We’ve just signed Ed Laurie. He comes from London. He plays guitar and sings. He writes songs that will pin you to the floor. His debut album is called “Meanwhile In The Park.” It was recorded with friends in a house outside London over the course of a long weekend. It will be out in September digital-only (with limited edition physical goodies tba). US tour dates coming soon. Enough words. Dappled Cities’ Dave Rennick emailed us a few months ago to say he’d written and recorded an entire album with some friends in Sydney. We are very excited to hear it, and blown away when we heard it. We’re happy to announce the release of CoC’s debut full-length Leo Magnets Joins A Gang on July 22. The single ‘All The Mines’ is available as an exclusive free download bundle (along with tasty extras) and is buried deep within the Curse of Company site.

Our afro-ed brother Justin Meldal-Johnsen joined Nine Inch Nails a few weeks ago. He plays the bass guitar, he is one of the most rock-solid humans roaming the earth, and he has the dopest sock collection in the world. You might recognize him–he was Beck‘s right-hand man for the past decade. Over the years, he’s been a member of a couple of LA’s more angular/darkorrific bands as well: Ima Robot and Medicine. Dangerbird Management looks after JMJ for his work as a record producer, and he looks after us by helping us make records as Dangerbird Records A&R man.

Darker My Love’s new album “2″ is coming out August 5. DML singer Tim Presley created an electric-kool-aid candy wrapper of a cover. We love the album, the cover, and the band so much that we are plastering the cover everywhere we can–in legal (see above) and not-so-legal (see future posts) ways.

Here’s a shot of the billboard atop Amoeba Records in Hollywood. The staff there loves DML, and have been supportive as hell on the launch of the new album. I think they’re letting us keep the ‘board up for four months.
